As of February 2025, the Republic of Moldova has specific entry requirements for foreign citizens:

Visa Requirements:

  • Visa-Free Entry: Citizens from certain countries can enter Moldova without a visa for stays up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This includes all European Union member states, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and several other countries. evisa.gov.md
  • Visa Required: Nationals from countries not listed under the visa-free regime must obtain a visa prior to arrival. It’s recommended to consult the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs or local consular services for specific information.

Special Considerations for Transdnistria:

Transdnistria, a self-proclaimed independent region within Moldova that is not recognized by any UN member states—including the Russian Federation—has its own entry requirements. While a visa is not required, travelers must obtain a migration card upon entry. For this, you must have a legal address of your stay (hotel, hostel, private house, or apartment, including the name and surname of the owner). No further registration is required within the territory after entry. If you were given a 12-hour permission to stay in PMR (formerly Transnistria) and you want to stay longer, please consult your tour guide for further instructions on how to extend your migration card within the territory.

Visitors from EU countries can enter the territory with national ID cards, though it is strongly recommended to also carry an international passport.

As of April 1, 2023, male Ukrainian citizens aged 18 to 60 must obtain special permission to enter Transnistria.

Despite persistent rumors suggesting Transnistria is unsafe, we have been organizing tours there for many years without a single incident. The most important rule travelers should follow is the rule of common sense.

Most of our guides were born and raised in Transnistria, so they have an in-depth understanding of local specifics, customs, rules, and personal connections within the community.

In case of emergency or any security concerns, we are ready to evacuate you from the territory to Chisinau, where we can accommodate you in one of our trusted partner hotels—available 24/7.
